Point of Sale, also known as Point of Purchase is a method of placing a sign within the last few feet before the cash register to prompt the buyer to make additional purchases. Traditional paper point of sale signs have had a positive effect in increasing sales but now with the advent of digital signage that display has been raised to a whole new level.
By placing a digital sign(s) at the point of purchase the retailer can interact with the buyer in a way never before possible. Digital signs are showing up everywhere from malls to department stores adding to brand awareness and increasing sales. Unlike traditional paper signs that can only show one thing, digital signs now give the ability to provide the viewer with multiple screens of product information as well as animated presentations. In addition to full color, high definition product presentations, the retailer now has the ability to "daypart" or select specific times of day to display specific advertisements based on the changing daily and hourly demographics of the shoppers.
Digital sign based point of sale applications are having a huge impact on retail sales and retailers from around the world are reporting increases whenever digital signage is being used.
